Frequently Asked Questions

No jargon, no runaround. Everything you need to know about working with Safient Solutions and how we help your business stay protected.

General

4 questions
What exactly does Safient Solutions do?
Safient Solutions is a cybersecurity and technology advisory firm. We work with small businesses, families, and individuals to find gaps in their technology and security setup, explain what those gaps mean in plain English, and then fix them. Think of us as a trusted insider rather than a vendor — we work for you, not for a product manufacturer or reseller.
Is Safient Solutions the right fit for my business?
If you run a small business with anywhere from 1 to 50 employees and you are not sure whether your technology and security setup is actually protecting you, then yes. We work best with business owners who want honest guidance and practical solutions, not a managed service provider trying to lock them into a long-term contract.
What makes Safient Solutions different from an IT company or MSP?
Most IT companies and managed service providers are focused on keeping your systems running and selling you their stack of tools. Safient Solutions is vendor-neutral, which means we have no financial incentive to recommend any particular product. We focus on what is right for your business, your budget, and your actual risk level. We also specialize in cybersecurity specifically, not just general IT support.
Is Safient Solutions veteran-owned?
Yes. Safient Solutions is founded and operated by a US military veteran with nearly a decade of experience in military IT, systems administration, and corporate cybersecurity. The discipline, structure, and mission-first mindset from that background shapes how we approach every client engagement.

Services

4 questions
What services does Safient Solutions offer?
Our core services for small businesses include cybersecurity assessments, technology planning and advisory, vendor and product evaluations, password management setup, multi-factor authentication deployment, backup and recovery planning, cyber insurance readiness reviews, and ongoing technology advisor services. For families and individuals, we offer home security reviews, device protection, account security, and digital privacy guidance.
Do you only work with businesses, or do you help individuals and families too?
We work with both. Small businesses are our primary focus, but we also help families and individuals who want to protect their devices, accounts, and personal information. If you are a business owner, we can also help you extend good security practices to your home environment.
Do you sell or install security products?
We are vendor-neutral advisors, not resellers. We do not earn commissions on any products we recommend. If your engagement includes implementation, we will help you select, configure, and deploy the right tools for your needs based purely on what works best for you, not what earns us a margin.
Can you help me figure out if I need cyber insurance?
Yes. Cyber insurance readiness is one of the services we offer. We can review your current security posture, identify gaps that may affect your coverage eligibility, and help you understand what insurers are looking for before you apply. This can save you money and prevent coverage surprises after an incident.

Our process

3 questions
How does the Assess, Advise, Assist process work?
Every engagement starts with an Assess phase, where we map your technology environment, identify security gaps, and get a clear picture of where you stand. From there, we Advise by producing a plain-English action plan prioritized by risk and budget. Finally, we Assist by implementing solutions, configuring tools, and providing ongoing support as needed. The process is repeatable, so it grows with your business over time.
What happens during a free consultation?
The free consultation is a 30-minute conversation with no commitment required. We ask about your current technology setup, what keeps you up at night, and what your goals are. You walk away with an honest perspective on where your biggest risks are and a clear sense of whether working together makes sense. There is no sales pitch and no pressure.
How long does a cybersecurity assessment take?
For most small businesses, an initial assessment takes between 2 and 5 business days depending on the size and complexity of your environment. You receive a clear written report with findings ranked by priority and a recommended action plan. We walk through the results with you so nothing is left unclear.

Pricing

3 questions
How much do your services cost?
Pricing depends on the scope of work and the size of your environment. We offer fixed-price assessments as a clear entry point, followed by project-based or retainer pricing for implementation and ongoing advisory. We never start work without giving you a clear number upfront. Book a free consultation and we will give you a transparent estimate based on your specific situation.
Do you require long-term contracts?
No. We do not believe in locking clients into contracts they do not need. Engagements can be project-based with a clear start and end, or ongoing if you want continued advisory support. Either way, the terms are always transparent and agreed upon before we begin.
Is the initial consultation really free?
Yes, completely. The free 30-minute consultation has no strings attached. It is an honest conversation to understand your situation and help you figure out whether Safient Solutions is the right fit. If we are not the right fit, we will tell you that too.

Remote & availability

3 questions
Do you work with businesses outside of your local area?
Yes. We serve small businesses across the United States. Most engagements are conducted fully remotely via video call, screen share, and secure remote tools. For larger or more complex on-site engagements, travel is available. Where you are located does not limit what we can do for you.
How do remote security assessments work?
Remote assessments are conducted through a combination of video consultations, secure questionnaires, and guided walkthroughs of your systems. You do not need to ship any equipment or install any invasive software. The process is designed to be low-friction for you while still giving us the information we need to do a thorough job.
How quickly can you get started?
We typically schedule a free consultation within 1 to 2 business days of your request. From there, the timeline for starting work depends on the scope and your availability. We do not have long waiting lists, and we will always give you an honest timeline before we begin.
